Classic Crisco Crust, Double Crust Recipe 5-6 medium Granny Smith Apples, peeled, cored and sliced 1 cup sugar 1 stick butter apple pie spice
Prepare pie crust according to recipe. Preheat oven to 375 degreesF. Place apples in pie crust. Pour sugar evenly over apples. Sprinkle with apple pie spice. Cut butter into pats and place over top of apples and sugar. Place remaining crust over top and flute. Cut slits in top crust to allow steam to escape. (I like to take leftover pie dough and cut apples and leaves out of it and place on top crust. Be sure to moisten the backs of them with water before placing on top crust.) Cover edge of crust with pie shields or aluminum foil to prevent over-browning. Bake in 375 degree oven for 1 hour.
